Consular legalization
Consular legalization of documents is the procedure for confirming the validity of the originals of these official documents and certifying the authenticity of signatures of the officials authorized to certify signatures on the documents, as well as the validity of stamps and seals placed on the document.
Legalization of the document under the established procedure gives it the right to exist in international circulation.

If the country for which you legalize the document is not a Party to the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961, or did not ratify it, then you need consular legalization.
All consular offices in Ukraine are situated in Kyiv, and you are, for example, in Lviv, Vittitsa or Odesa. What should you do? Go to Kyiv?

Procedure:
This is a somewhat more complicated procedure, which includes certification of the document in the bodies of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and that in the Consular Agency of the country of destination in Ukraine.
For example, you legalize your birth certificate for Canada: it must first be legalized in the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, then in the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine, and only then it be can translated into English or French and certified with the Ukrainian notary. What is more, your legalized document will be valid only in the territory of the country whose consulate agency will place its mark of legalization on it.
